Five Fun Facts:

1. Mozart’s full name was Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart. Seriously. Amadeus is Latin for the Greek, Theophilus. Mozart prefered the Italian, Amadè.
   
2. Scholars debate how old Mozart was—four or five (!)—when he composed his first work.
3. The adult composer never outgrew a scatological sense of humor. His letters to family often included toilet jokes.
4. Mozart loved animals. He had several birds when living in Vienna, and he wrote a “Poem to a dead starling” in 1787 after the passing of a favorite feathered friend.
5. Despite his short life (Mozart died at 35), he composed more than 600 works.
