Brunch is better with Mozart and friends! Come on down to The Mozart Buffet every Sunday, noon to 1:00, for a feast of music from the 18th century, hosted by Matt Rogers and accented with stories of the composers' lives. There's a place for you at the table!
Five Fun Facts:
- Mozart’s full name was Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart. Seriously. Amadeus is Latin for the Greek, Theophilus. Mozart prefered the Italian, Amadè.
- Scholars debate how old Mozart was—four or five (!)—when he composed his first work.
- The adult composer never outgrew a scatological sense of humor. His letters to family often included toilet jokes.
- Mozart loved animals. He had several birds when living in Vienna, and he wrote a “Poem to a dead starling” in 1787 after the passing of a favorite feathered friend.
- Despite his short life (Mozart died at 35), he composed more than 600 works.
